SANE (Society for AV Norms & Engineering) is an open, community-driven project. This site is a static website with no user accounts, no tracking cookies, and no first-party analytics. This page explains the few places where data is involved at all.
What we collect
Nothing directly. This site has no server of its own, sets no cookies, and runs no analytics or advertising scripts.
Hosting (GitHub Pages)
This site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may collect technical information from visitors such as IP addresses for security and operational purposes. See the GitHub Privacy Statement for details.
Newsletter (optional)
If you choose to subscribe to our newsletter, the email address you submit is processed by Kit (formerly ConvertKit), which handles the subscription form on our homepage. We only use it to send project updates, and you can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email. See the Kit Privacy Policy for details. The Kit form script loads only on the homepage.
Local storage
The site may store display preferences (such as a theme setting) in your browser’s local storage. This data never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings.
Contributing via GitHub
Contributions to standards, the glossary, and other content happen through GitHub. Anything you post there (issues, pull requests, discussions) is public and governed by GitHub’s terms and privacy policy. Contributor names in commit history and document frontmatter are published as part of the open content.
External links
Pages link to external sites (manufacturer documentation, standards bodies, etc.). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.
Changes
If this policy changes, the update will be committed to the site repository with full version history.
